Apex Magazine
Illustration and print based design for bi-monthly mock magazine, "Apex" - a design magazine targeted at graphic designers from all walks of life. The mock "Typography Issue" explores the key principles in historical typography from various parts of the world, and also discusses the values of white space.
Through a deep exploration of Kenya Hara’s article, ‘Typeface and Typography’, and Ellen Lupton’s, ‘White Space’, I have developed a typographic based magazine which reflects universally taught and respected graphic design forms.
The cover and spreads are representative of the issues examined in these two articles. Taking particular focus on Hara’s examination into Chinese typography, the cover has been symbolically illustrated represented by Chinese koi fish.
